Smart date recognition is a fast and simple way to quickly add due dates to your Todoist tasks. While typing out a task, smart date recognition automatically parses dates written in natural language as a part of the task name. Smart date recognition will highlight the text to show you the entered date has been detected.

If you prefer not to have a highlighted term processed, you can simply press Esc or the Backspace key, or in the case of mobile apps you can tap on the highlighted term to cancel the parsing of it.

If you wish to use Todoist without smart date recognition you can disable the feature by following these simple steps:

  2. At the top right, click the gear icon and select Todoist Settings.
