How to assign a task?

Please note that you can only assign a task that is part of the project shared with the person you want to assign the task to.

Web, OS X, Windows (Legacy)

  1. Open the Todoist app.
  2. Click the person icon on the right side of the task name and select the person's name from the drop-down menu.

Windows 10

  1. Open the Todoist app.
  2. Hover over a task in a shared project and click the person icon on the right side of the task name and select the person's name from the drop-down menu.

Android

  1. Open the Todoist app.
  2. Tap the task you want to assign.
  3. Tap the Edit icon at the bottom.
  4. Select the person's name from the drop-down menu.

iOS

  1. Open the Todoist app.
  2. Tap the task you want to assign.
  3. Tap the Edit icon directly below the task.
  4. Select the person's name under Assign to.

To quickly assign a task to a collaborator, you can also use our Quick Add shortcut supported on all the platforms: simply type "+" followed by your collaborator's name in one line with your task name, e.g. +James. Please note that if you create a task being in a different project or filtered view, you have to specify a shared project first, e.g. #Design +James.
