Create a project

When working on something that requires more than a single task, a project is the best way to get organized. Here's how to create a new project:

  1. Click the Projects tab on the left in Todoist.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of your project list.
  3. Click Add project.
  4. Type out the name of the project.
  5. Click the silver circle to the left of your project name to change its color.
  6. Click Add Project to create the project.
  7. (Optional) You can then drag and drop your project to a new place on your project list, or turn your project into a sub-project.
  1. Tap the more icon in the top left in Todoist.
  2. Tap Projects.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of your project list and tap Manage projects.
  4. Tap + Add project.
  5. Type out the name of your new project.
  6. Select a color for your project from the color drop-down.
  7. (Optional) To make your new project a sub-project, tap the Parent field and select the project you want your new project to be nested under.
  8. (Optional) To share your new project with someone else, tap Add collaborators.
  9. When you’re finished, tap the send icon to create the project.
  1. Open the left-hand navigation menu in Todoist.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of your project list.
  3. Tap Add Project.
  4. Type out the name of the project.
  5. To give your project a color, tap the Color field.
  6. (Optional) To share your new project with someone else, tap Add collaborators.
  7. (Optional) To make your new project a sub-project, tap the Parent field and select the project you want your new project to be nested under.
  8. When you’re finished, tap Done in the top right to create the project.

  4. In the right-side panel, type out the name of the project.
  5. To give your project a color, click on Project Color.
  6. To share your new project with someone else, click + Add people.
  7. Click Save.
When creating a project, you can’t use @, #, +, and = in the project title. The only special characters allowed in project names are ., _, and -.
