Search is the simplest way to find what you’re looking for in Todoist. Here’s how you can use search to find a task, project or comment:

  1. Click the Quick Find search field at the top.
  2. Type the keyword(s) that you’re looking for.
  3. You’ll see a few tasks that match your keyword below the search bar. If you see the task you’re searching for, click it to open it.
  4. If you haven’t seen your task yet, look at more results by pressing Enter or clicking Show more results at the bottom.
  5. You’ll see all the tasks that match your keyword. When you find the task you’re looking for, click it to open it.
  6. (Optional) If you want to search through task comments, click the Comments pane to the top right of your search results.
  7. (Optional) If you want to search through completed tasks, click Search completed tasks below the search results.
  1. Tap the magnifying glass in the top right.
  2. Type the keyword(s) that you’re looking for.
  3. You’ll see a list of tasks, projects and comments that match your keyword. If you find what you’re looking for, tap it to open it.
  4. If you didn’t find what you’re looking for in the list, tap the TasksProjectsComments, Labels (Premium), or Filters (Premium) tabs above to see all the search results in the respective category.
  5. When you find what you’re looking for, tap it to open it.
  1. Swipe down from the top to reveal the search bar.

We’re working on a revamped search for Windows. For now, you can use the Quick Find search bar to search for tasks, projects and labels:

  1. Tap the magnifying glass in the top left.
  2. Type the keyword that you’re looking for.
  3. You’ll see a list of tasks, projects and labels that match your keyword. When you find the task you’re looking for, click it to open it.

Narrow down your search

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can narrow down your search results by date, by priority level, by project and more by using queries in your search. For example, you could enter August 7 directly into the search bar to see all tasks due on August 7th. Here are a few more examples:
